Test Type: Thermophysical Properties Instrument

PMIC’s XDCE–3 instrument measures the thermal expansion, thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and emissivity of a wide range of sample materials over large temperature ranges. In addition, the specific heat, thermal effusivity, coefficient of moisture expansion, sintering, creep and reaction rates can also be determined by calculation or simple experimental modifications. The high resolution dilatometer can be configured to accommodate most any cooler/furnace for operation at cryogenic temperatures to over
1600°C (1900K). A lamp or optional laser source is implemented to introduce a flux to briefly heat one sample end to obtain the emissivity, diffusivity and conductivity. The instrument handles small rods or tubes with a wide range of materials and dimensions.
